- Natural wine is created from grapes of the Sangiovese variety. Characteristic aromas appearing in this wine bring to mind cherry, plum, blueberry or tea.
The noble Sangiovese strain is one of Italy's most popular grape varieties. Its cultivation can be found in many parts of the world, but it gets the best results in Italy. The name comes from the Latin "sangius Jovis" which means "blood of Jupiter", the father of the gods. According to legend, the name was given to the vine by monks living in what is now Romagna. This variety ripens late, producing fruits with relatively high sugar content. It gives strong, extractive wines with considerable tannin content, good acidity, suitable for long ageing in barrels. Characteristic aromas appearing in this wine bring to mind cherry, plum, blueberry or tea. Pairs best with lamb and hard cheeses.
